ITANAGAR, Jun 6: Urban Development (UD) Minister Kamlung Mosang convened a meeting here on Thursday to take stock of the progress of various activities under the urban development & housing (UD&H) and the town planning & urban local bodies (TP&ULB) departments.
After being briefed on the activities undertaken by the heads of the departments, the minister suggested exploring new sources of funding for new projects “as most of the schemes and projects have been de-linked from the government of India.”
“Special emphasis needs to be given to flagship programmes like the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban), the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana, smart cities, and the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation, for their timely execution and completion,” Mosang said.
He opined that “in order to solve the problems in the bud, issues related to the departments should be brought to the notice of the minister forthwith to avoid any embarrassment as well as public criticism.”
The meeting was attended by UD Secretary SK Jain, UD&H CE Taring Darang, Town Planning Director Sukhvinder Singh, State Mission Director Nixon Lego, UD&H SSW Marcony Potom, and senior officers of the UD&H department and the TP&ULB directorate.
