Taki for continued development of farming sector

ITANAGAR, Jun 6: Agriculture and Horticulture Minister Tage Taki has asked the departments’ officers to maintain continuity of developmental activities in the farming sector, which he said “is the major source of agrarian economy of Arunachal Pradesh.”
The minister was addressing officers during a review meeting of the agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, veterinary & dairy development and fisheries departments here on Thursday.
Taking stock of the current status of the developmental activities and the circumstances leading to the “lapse of a huge amount of fund, both under CSS and State Plan, 2018-19,” the minister said developmental activities should be taken up immediately during 2019-20 “so as to maintain their continuity.”
He advised the departments to ensure regular convening of DPCs to enable the officers to contribute their best for effective implementation of projects.
Taki also emphasized on revisiting the existing system of market linkage in order to create a vibrant agricultural marketing system, “so that the farmers are able to get their remunerative returns of their toil.”
Earlier, PowerPoint presentations were made about the activities undertaken during 2018-19 by the departments, and the minister was apprised of the initiatives of the state government and the agriculture ministry for the steady growth of agriculture and allied sectors to achieve the prime minister’s vision of doubling the farmers’ income by 2022.
