Unions call on SIT over Basumatary murder case

ITANAGAR, Jun 6: A joint team of the All Nyishi Students’ Union (ANSU) and the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) called on the SIT in-charge at the police headquarters here on Thursday and sought early and proper investigation into the Aleb Basumatary murder case.
Basumatary, a resident of Milanpur village in Assam, was brutally murdered, and her body was recovered from Hawa Camp area in Kimin on 16 May. A case was registered at the Kimin police station and the accused, identified as Taku Mompa, has been arrested. The case was later transferred to the SIT.
Expressing solidarity with the ABSU and the victim’s family, the ANSU in a press release condemned the barbaric and inhuman murder of Basumatary, and urged the authority concerned to ensure speedy and proper investigation into the case.
The ANSU also urged the ABSU to keep faith in the investigating agency of the state and maintain peace and harmony.
