Union seeks functionalizing divn’l commissioner office

ITANAGAR, Jun 21: The All Lower Subansiri District Students’ Union in a representation to the education minister on Friday requested him to initiate steps to develop the infrastructure for the office of the western divisional commissioner (WDC) in Yachuli to make it functional at the earliest.
The union claimed that no infrastructure development project has been taken up since the opening of the WDC headquarters in Yachuli.
It also urged the minister to initiate measures to ensure early functioning of the polytechnic college in Ziro.
“We have a polytechnic college in Ziro with all the required land and infrastructure. But due to some unknown reasons the college is not getting functional. The infrastructure which has been built for the college is lying in shambles and unused for many years. If made functional, the college would cater to the needs of poor students and ease the burden faced at other technical or diploma colleges which are so few in our state,” it said.
Earlier, in a separate representation to the chief secretary on Monday, the union requested him to take steps to ensure immediate start of work on the Potin-Panggin stretch of the Trans-Arunachal Highway (TAH) and maintenance of the Potin-Ziro stretch of the TAH, and demanded “stringent action against all fake TAH compensation beneficiaries and erring officers involved in fund misappropriation.”
