Shuttlers seek renovation of Raj Bhavan badminton court

ITANAGAR, June 25: Badminton players of the capital have requested the Arunachal State Badminton Association (ASBA), the sports department, and the Raj Bhavan authority to take steps for renovation and maintenance of the Raj Bhavan indoor badminton court, which they said “is in a bad shape and pathetic condition.”
Shuttlers and youths who play in the stadium claimed that the badminton court is occupied by personnel of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) for months together, adding that the players face hurdles in their routine practice.
However, ASBA honorary secretary Bamang Tago clarified that “the court premises were occupied by the CAPF as they were deployed in various parts of the capital complex on law and order duties, but after the intervention of the governor and the home minister, it has been freed.”
Tago said he took up the matter with Sports & Youth Affairs Minister Mama Natung on Tuesday. He said the minister assured to take steps for renovation and maintenance of the badminton stadium at the earliest.
