ITANAGAR, Jun 26: The Ministry of Home Affairs has conveyed a tentative allocation for an amount of Rs 65.489 Crore (with 10 percent state’s share) for 2019-20 under Border Area Development Programme (BADP) for Arunachal Pradesh.
This was informed during the 36th state level screening committee (SLSC) meeting on BADP, held at the conference hall of Chief Secretary Satya Gopal here at the civil secretariat on Wednesday.
Taking stock of the Annual Action Plan (AAP) submitted by deputy commissioners, the chief secretary emphasized on beneficiary oriented projects, and doubling of income of the farmers through the BADP.
“Incorporate income generating activities, helping an average of 100 beneficiaries in each block of the model village under the BADP,” he said.
Stating that schemes should benefit the public and percolate down to them, he added that criteria for selection of beneficiaries should be farmer(s) or families whose income is below Rs 2.5 lakh per annum; landless labourers; marginal farmers, and small farmers.
For income generating activities, avenues in animal husbandry & veterinary, dairy, agriculture and horticulture could be explored, he suggested.
Gopal also took account of the status of VKVs under BADP in Lazu, Nafra, Mukto, Amliang, Niusa, Koloriang, and Chayang Tajo.
The AAP under the BADP 2019-20 in respect of 15 districts were presented by respective deputy commissioners, who were present in the meeting with their respective district planning officers.
The 15 districts covered under the BADP are: Tawang, West Kameng, East Kameng, Upper Subansiri, Kurung Kumey, Kra-Daadi, Shi Yomi, Siang, Upper Siang, Lower Dibang Valley, Anjaw, Tirap, Changlang, Longding, and Dibang Valley.
The committee selected the AAP submitted by deputy commissioners, with partial modifications. Special impetus to beneficiary oriented schemes, and income generation schemes with a direction to submit all the pending utilization certificates within two-three months’ time was also given.
Commissioner Home AK Singh, Commissioner PWD Bilatee Pertin, Commissioner PHED Marnya Ete, Secretary Planning Himanshu Gupta, representatives from SSB, ITBP, Assam Rifles, and others were present in the SLSC meeting. (PRO to CS)
