MARDE, Jun 27: “We must dedicate our services to the development of the nation first, the development of our area second, and self-development last,” said Dumporijo MLA Rode Bui during a public meeting at Marde village in Upper Subansiri district on Thursday.
This was Bui’s maiden visit to his constituency after taking oath as MLA.
He said the government should “reduce its commission system in every project and scheme implemented in the area by any contractor” in order to ensure quality work.
“A concrete law should be implemented to bring about quality work culture in the area,” Bui said.
Discouraging “individual project schemes,” he said there should be “common projects for the development of the area,” as they would be “more visible and more easily accounted for.”
The MLA stressed on prioritizing development of inter-village road connectivity, and asked government officers and staffs to be punctual and sincere.
He urged the public to introduce only “genuine schemes,” and said technical officers should be present at the work sites to check the quality of work.
The locals submitted a representation to the MLA, seeking streamlining the administration in the constituency and addressing the matters of encroachment on the government higher secondary school, irregular performance of government officers, upgrading the fire tender service, lack of basic modern facilities in the hospital, absenteeism among doctors and medical staff, and law order problems, especially teenage delinquency.
