ITANAGAR, Jul 8: The development process must begin from the grassroots level to transform rural Arunachal, said Tourism Minister Nakap Nalo.
Nalo and three other legislators of Upper Subansiri district together attended a ‘development meeting’ organized by the Tagin Welfare Society (TCS) at the state banquet hall here on Sunday. Development of the road, health and education sectors was the core area of discussion during the meeting.
Nalo emphasized the need for improving the education scenario in his district. He appealed to all to be part of the development process by cooperating with the government.
Taliha MLA Nyato Rigia said there is a solution to every problem, and called upon every member of the society to “change their old mindset in the greater interest of their area.”
Rigia also expressed concern over illegal gambling activities, such as lottery, which are rampant in Upper Subansiri. He also highlighted the dilapidated condition of the schools’ infrastructure in the district, which, he said, “needs immediate attention.”
Daporijo MLA Taniya Soki also sought cooperation from the people to expedite the development process.
While the court of the judicial magistrate (first class) in the district needs to be upgraded to a sessions court, the facilities at the district hospital in Daporijo too needs further improvement, Soki said.
Dumporijo MLA Rode Bui urged the people to “develop work culture and give up the habit of running after easy money.” He also emphasized on maintaining cleanliness.
Earlier, TCS president Tabu Paktung highlighted the various challenges and issues being faced by the people of Upper Subansiri district, and the need for them to be redressed.
