Animal birth control, vaccination camp held

GYANGKHAR, Jul 26: An ‘animal birth control and anti-rabies vaccination camp’ was held at the Army’s veterinary field hospital here in Tawang district on Friday. This was the fourth round of similar camps held earlier.
A team of doctors from the district animal husbandry, veterinary & dairy development department, along with a team of veterinary doctors from the Army conducted the camp.
The team has already covered areas like Jang and Tawang.
“We have very limited resources but the menace of stray dogs is increasing at an alarming rate. If we don’t control it through animal birth control measures, within a short period the dogs will outnumber the human population,” said District Veterinary Officer Dr A Tamin.
The increasing number of stray dogs may lead to zoonotic diseases, informed the veterinary doctors involved with the camp. (DIPRO)
