ITANAGAR, Aug 9: Topics such as food safety, maintenance of health and hygiene, ensuring quality and nutritious midday meals (MDM), and the importance of having ‘nutrition gardens’ in schools to supplement the MDM scheme were covered during block-level training progra-mmes for cooks-cum-helpers of all government schools upto the upper primary level in the state recently.
“Most of the total 6525 cooks-cum-helpers engaged in cooking of midday meals for schoolchildren in the state actively participated the training,” the education department stated in a release.
It said fire safety drills were also demonstrated at some of the schools by fire brigade personnel during the statewide training programme which it said was jointly organised by departments like health & family welfare, food & civil supplies, police, etc.
