ITANAGAR, Aug 16: Champion FC lifted the Independence Day Running Football Trophy, beating Gohpur Sporting Club 2-1 in the final played here on Thursday.
Toko Polliam scored both the goals for the winning team, while Tatung Lingkesh netted the only goal for the runner-up team.
Dark Lugu was adjudged the best player of the tournament, and Chamak Bora the best goalkeeper. Toko Polliam, with seven goals, became the highest scorer, while the title of ’emerging player’ was won by Dangu Tania.
Chandranagar FC bagged the ‘fair play team’ award.
Social worker Yorum Tari and All Arunachal Pradesh Anganwadi Workers’ and Helpers’ Union general secretary Tarba Japan attended the closing ceremony and gave away the prizes to the winner and the runner-up teams and the individual achievers.
