ITANAGAR, Aug 19: The fortnight-long induction programme, which has been made compulsory for newly admitted students (first semester and lateral entry) by the AICTE, started at Rajiv Gandhi Government Polytechnic (RGGP) here on Monday.
Addressing the students, RGGP Principal Dr AK Tripathy asked them to be “honest and impartial” when giving feedback on the activities carried out during the induction programme.
He explained to them the importance of actively participating in the programme for their overall development.
RGGP Academic and Examination Chairman, Suwana Mungyak, spoke about the aim of the induction programme, and explained the institute’s academic and examination rules.
Over the next two weeks, a new activity will be conducted each day for the students, under the guidance of an expert. The programme will include physical activities, motivational talks, ‘creative arts and culture’, ‘mentoring and universal human value’, health and hygiene, familiarization with the college, literary activities, proficiency module, lectures, workshops, and a visit to nearby areas.
Those in charge of various branches, such as NBA, NCC, NSS, TPO, campus, library, hostel, etc, presented briefs on the rules and regulations of their respective branches.
The chairman of the institute’s anti-ragging squad, Tamo Tado, informed that “RGGP has zero tolerance against any form of ragging,” and said not a single case of ragging has been reported in the institute in the last few years.
The induction programme is being coordinated by RGGP Academic and Examination Assistant Chairman Jitu Saikia.
