ITANAGAR, Aug 21: The National Investigating Agency (NIA) has arrested a businessman, identified as Jaikishan Sharma from Dimapur in Nagaland on Tuesday evening in connection with the murder of MLA Tirong Aboh and the 10 others.
The NIA also reportedly recovered Rs 10 lakh in cash from the possession of Sharma, who is a businessman based in Khonsa. He is believed to be close to the underground group of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Isak-Muivah).
Sharma reportedly has business interest in districts like Tirap, Changlang and Longding and also in Assam’s Dibrugarh.
The NIA suspects that he shared the travel plan of late Aboh to the group involved in the gruesome murder.
Aboh along with 10 others were massacred in cold-blood on 21 May this year near Khonsa just days before the election result was declared. He had defeated Phawang Lowang of the Bharatiya Janata Party when the results were out on 23 May.
The NIA, which took over the investigation from the state police recently, had released the photographs seeking information about the suspects involved in the killing of late Aboh and others.
Five members of the NSCN (IM) have been named as key suspects by the NIA.
Earlier, the NSCN (IM) strongly refuted allegation of linking them with the murder of late Aboh terming it as “conspiracy against them.”
