Farmers advised to adopt livestock activities with integrated farming

MAHADEVPUR-III, Aug 24: Lekang MLA Jummum Ete Deori advised farmers and farmwomen here in Namsai district to adopt the model of livestock activities with integrated farming to double their income by 2022.
Deori was addressing members of SHGs, farmers’ interest groups and livestock owners here on Saturday, during a programme organised by the Namsai KVK.
The MLA also emphasized on creation of livestock farmers-producers organizations (FPO) in the district.
Itanagar NABARD’s GM Gopa Kumaran G Nair, AGM Kamal Roy, DDM Ivan Singh and Namsai DVO Dr RD Jindal also spoke.
Earlier, the GM, the AGM and the DDM along with KVK officials visited different livestock units, especially goatery units, established by the KVK in villages like Alubari, Nampong, Mahaloni, etc, and interacted with the farmers.
They also visited the KVK’s farm complex.
Later, the KVK distributed certificates to successful poultry growers and FPO groups of the district.
Altogether 160 farmers participated in the programme.
