ITANAGAR, Aug 30: The Arunachal Pradesh Colleges’s Forum in a memorandum to the chief minister in Friday demanded removal of the engineering wing from the state’s education department, claiming rampant corruption and malpractice in the wing.
“The existence of the engineering wing in the education department is not appropriate because the state government already has several engineering departments. It is observed that rampant corruption and malpractices are going on due to the existence of the engineering wing in the department. Also, it is an unnecessary expenditure on the state exchequer,” the forum said.
“Moreover,” it claimed, “there has so far been no positive outcome from the engineering wing of the education department, (and) it is found that several projects are incomplete while some undergoing projects are pending.”
