Siwundi FC lift Veterans Gold Cup

ROING, Aug 30: Siwundi FC lifted the first Veterans Gold Cup Football Tournament for players above 35 years of age.
They beat Athupopu team in a penalty shootout in a keenly contested final match that went to tie-breaker after the teams were tied in regulation time at the Kera aa Jubilee Ground here in Lower Dibang Valley district on Thursday.
Besides the two finalists, eight other teams participated in the tournament.
The winners were awarded the trophy with cash prize of Rs 30,000, while the runner-up team was given Rs 25,000 with a trophy.
Boken Mele of Siwundi FC won the ‘best player’ title, while Jira Mito of the same team was adjudged the best defender. The award for the best goalkeeper went to Malo Linggi of Athupopu, and Cheta FC won the ‘most disciplined team’ award.
The tournament was organized by the Roing Town Club, and sponsored by Rajya Sabha Member Mukut Mithi, MLA Mutchu Mithi and Mahindra & Mahindra.
