Pasighat readies for 25th SWNFC

PASIGHAT, Sep 7: East Siang HQ Pasighat is all set to host the 15-day 25th Senior Women’s National Football Championship (SWNFC), which starts on 10 September, said Deputy Commissioner Kinny Singh on Saturday.
The opening day’s matches will be free for all, but on the other days, soccer lovers would have to pay a nominal entry charge.
“We feel proud that we are organizing a sports event of national importance in Pasighat. I have visited the venues and found that both the CHF and the Pasighat stadium have been prepared upto the mark to host the national tourney,” the DC said.
She said the administration has made all preparations to provide proper accommodation, sanitation and care to all the players and their associates who are coming from various states. Volunteers have also been mobilized to oversee the safety and comfort of all the participating teams, she said.
Singh informed that the departments concerned have been directed to ensure uninterrupted supply of power and water to the places where the team members and other guests will stay.
“We will also maintain strict vigil to ensure congestion-free traffic movement in the town,” the DC said.
For the convenience of the visitors, temporary inner line permits will be issued at the Ruksin gate near here.
Meanwhile, Arunachal Pradesh Football Association secretary Kipa Ajay informed that the participating teams have been divided into eight groups. Arunachal, Jammu & Kashmir and Telangana are in Group H.
The inaugural match will be played between Railways and Mizoram. Thirty states will lock horns during the championship. (DIPRO)
