Union serves ultimatum to DA over TAH scam

ZIRO, Sep 13: The All Lower Subansiri District Students’ Union has served the Lower Subansiri district administration a 15-day ultimatum to “arrest all the fake beneficiaries of TAH (Potin-Bopi) compensation scam” and to suspend all the government officials involved in it.
The union said it would launch a “rigorous democratic movement” if the administration fails to meet its demand by 26 September.
Stating that the multi-crore scam has put Arunachal in a bad light, the union in its ultimatum to the deputy commissioner said the wrongdoers, “especially those fake and forged beneficiaries of TAH compensation,” should be given stringent punishment as per the law.
“The multi-crore scam could not have taken place without the touch of some hands from those who are at the echelons of power,” it said.
“No common public could have ever thought or would dare to make such a mess without the involvement of government officials. Though a few persons have been arrested so far, yet we feel that there are still many more who are roaming free,” it said, and requested the investigation agency to track down such erring officers “and teach them a lesson.”
The union also demanded that the authority concerned immediately start the land acquisition process for the TAH in the district.
“It would be a great succour for thousands of people if the land acquisition process is completed as early as possible, so that the construction of the road could be started,” it said.
