Workers’ union seeks exemption of posts from APSSB exams

ITANAGAR, Sep 13: The All Arunachal Pradesh Workers’ Union in a representation to the chairman of the Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board (APSSB) on Thursday demanded that persons serving as peons, gardeners, watchmen, sweepers, storekeepers, masons and labourers be excluded from appearing in interviews and exams conducted by the board for job absorption.
The union stated that “every skilled and unskilled serving contingent staffer in various departments is supposed to be absorbed as a regular staffer after 15 to 20 years of their service as per the government notification.”
Claiming that most of the departments are yet to implement the order, the union said, “There are many contingency serving staffs in various departments whose service tenures are getting over. Most of them will be deprived of their chances of reward from the government, for they will never pass in any exam or interview. Moreover, after so many years of service, they cannot look for other jobs also.”
