DC calls for stopping use of polythene

HAWAI, Sep 26: Anjaw DC Dagbom Riba urged the people of the district to use either paper bags or other biodegradable carry bags in place of plastic bags, and advised them to comply with the provisions of the Plastic Wastes Management Rules, 2016, to avoid paying penalties.
Addressing an awareness programme organised by the district level committee for the Swachta Hi Seva Abhiyan, in collaboration with the DUDA and the PHED, here on Wednesday, the DC asked the gathering to segregate plastic wastes and biodegradable wastes in order to make it convenient to send the plastic wastes to Itanagar for recycling and to make Anjaw a plastic-free district.
He informed that he had already issued an executive order on 3 September against using polythene/plastic carry bags in the entire district.
EAC S Bellai, PHED AE D Taniang, DFO T Pali, RWD EE S Ngemu and CALSOM joint secretary Jango Halai also spoke. (DIPRO)
