Seminar on national security organised

PASIGHAT, Oct 18: Members of the Forum for Awareness of National Security (FANS), who are on a statewide tour to create awareness on national security, organised a seminar at Jawaharlal Nehru College (JNC) here in East Siang district on Friday.
Addressing the students and faculty members, FANS president Raj Nandan Singh dwelt on the role of the local populace in safeguarding the country, and referred to the raising of the Arunachal Scouts as “one of the steps in the right direction.”
Highlighting the security scenario in the country, Singh said aware citizens would contribute to the protection of internal and external security and help maintain and promote peace and progress in India.
JNC Vice Principal, Dr SD Choudhary, spoke about the various challenges to national security, such as printing of fake currency “by forces inimical to the interests of the nation.”
“The unity and security of the nation is of utmost importance,” he said.
FANS national general secretary (organisation), Golok Bihari Rai, spoke about India’s growing stature in the global scenario, the country’s role in ensuring regional stability, and its efforts to promote economic, diplomatic and trade ties with other countries, besides strengthening age-old cultural ties.
The college’s political science associate professor, Dr Narang Tari, also spoke. (DIPRO)
