TAWANG, Nov 1: Chief Minister Pema Khandu inaugurated the new office of the Tawang superintendent of police here on Friday, in the presence of Home Minister Bamang Felix.
“Law and order will always be a priority, and all-out effort is being put to strengthen the police force in the state,” the CM said in his speech.
He said the state government has sanctioned “a good amount of funds” for police modernization, from procuring the latest equipment to meeting infrastructure gaps and manpower.
Khandu said two more police battalions of the state will be formed soon. Informing that 1000 more posts in the police department are yet to be filled up, he said recruitment to the posts would be held soon.
The CM also said the top revenue-generating districts will get special focus from the state government. “A sense of competitiveness will be generated, so that every district will compete to generate maximum revenue,” he said.
The CM also informed that, besides the recent allocation of Rs 2500 crore approved by the state cabinet committee on infrastructure, an additional Rs 1000 crore will be released soon for developing infrastructure in the state. He said Rs 200 crore is being kept for distribution of funds to all 60 constituencies.
