Lecture on cross-border development delivered

TEZU, Nov 21: A special lecture on the topic ‘Cross-border development – a recent phenomenon with reference to India, China and Myanmar’ was organized by the geography department of Indira Gandhi Government College here in Lohit district on Thursday.
Estonia-based South-East Asian Studies’ School of Humanities Associate Professor, Karin Dean, who was the resource person of the programme, emphasized how the border areas’ geopolitical developments are relevant to Northeast India.
Speaking on the status of the Stilwell Road that cuts through the borders of some of the South East Asian countries, Prof Dean said, “China is eager to develop the road but India is reluctant, alleging that it would only benefit China.
“To make the Stilwell Road a reality, India has a great role to play,” she added.
