NSS camp on ‘youth warriors against intoxicants’ begins

PAGLEK, Jan 6: A weeklong National Service Scheme (NSS) camp on ‘Youth warriors against intoxicants’ began here in East Siang district on Monday. The camp is being organised by the NSS unit of the College of Horticulture & Forestry (CHF) here.
The inaugural function featured the traditional ritual Taku Tabat, which was jointly conducted by Tokkong Tayeng, Miri Abu, and CHF Dean Prof BN Hazarika.
Prof Hazarika stressed on the importance of such camps for student volunteers as well as villagers, while social worker Aini Taloh advised everyone to stay away from intoxicants and nurture good habits.
As many as 120 NSS volunteers and over 200 students and teachers of the government middle school here will participate in the camp activities, which include cleanliness and plantation drives, voluntary teaching, and blood donation in collaboration with NGO AYANG.
