LONGDING, Jan 13: Longding block education officer (BEO) and renowned social worker, Bolam Boham, passed away here on 12 January.
Boham had also served as general secretary of the Wancho Council, and was actively involved with the Wancho Youth Association and the Wancho Cultural Society. He was also a joint secretary of the Longding unit of the then undivided Tirap District Indigenous Employees Welfare Society.
Boham is survived by his wife, three sons and a daughter.
In a condolence message, RWD Minister Honchun Ngandam deeply mourned the official’s death.
“We will not forget chaiki Bolam Boham, his contributions to society and pray to the almighty god for the eternal peace of the departed soul,” the message read.
Kanubari MLA GD Wangsu termed Boham’s death a great loss for the entire community, and prayed to the almighty to bestow strength on the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss.
Longding MLA Tanpho Wangnawin said, “Late Boham was like a brother to me and his death is a personal loss to me. He will be greatly missed by the whole society. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.”
Former Longding MLA Thangwang Wangham and Longding DC Cheshta Yadav also mourned Boham’s demise.
A two-minute silence was observed at the DC’s office here as a mark of respect to the departed soul. (DIPRO)
