SEPPA, Jan 13: Over 1600 players from 25 districts and the capital complex are participating in the ongoing 4th U-18 State Level Hangpan Dada Memorial Football & Volleyball (Boys & Girls) Trophy 2019-20 here in East Kameng district.
Sports Minister Mama Natung will officially launch the tournament on 14 January at the general ground here. Apart from the general ground, the tournament will be held simultaneously on three other grounds in Seppa – the GHSS ground in Bebo Colony and the grounds of the JNV and St Joseph School in New Seppa, from 13 to 24 January.
Interacting with reporters, Natung said the players are being provided with all basic facilities.
“We do not have many hotels in East Kameng to accommodate all the players and management teams, and accordingly, we have designated various schools, hostels, besides a few hotels for the players as a sports village,” he informed, adding that special care is being taken to provide potable water and sanitary napkins to female players.
“The district administration along with local MLAs Tapuk Taku, Hayang Mangfi and Goruk Pordung, and I, are personally monitoring the preparations,” Natung said.
“Security arrangements are also in place for the teams at all the grounds and other designated areas, while the medical response team will be present at each ground to ensure proper medical support,” he added.
