Roing celebrates ‘One Nation Reading Together’

ROING, Jan 25: The ‘One Nation Reading Together (ONRT) 2020’, an annual event by Scholastic India, was conducted here in Lower Dibang Valley district by the Dibang Youth Library.
The ONRT is an event, where children in schools across the country spend 20 minutes (preferably at 10 am) on the designated day, reading for fun and participating in other activities that celebrate reading as a pleasurable and enriching experience.
“You have been spiritedly working to promote the joy of reading among the students, teachers and parents of Roing, last few years. Keep doing that. It would surely pay you rich dividends in the coming years” exhorted EAC Jayanti Pertin, addressing the library volunteers, readers and students on the occasion.
Narrating her own experiences as to how she enormously benefited by daily library habits in her school days, Pertin assured all support of the district administration to the youth library volunteers to promote reading activities in the district. She also presented mementos to outstanding library activists.
The guests, consisting of officers and school principals watched a spirited display of poem recitations, storytelling, book reading and skits by Dibang Youth Library activists led by Khune Melo, Yoney Ekroya and Puya Mili, using scholastic books ‘You Read to me, I’ll Read to you’ , ‘Why can’t I fly?’, ‘Pied Piper of Hamlyn’ and poems from Eklavya Books.
The scholastic pledge for the day was earlier read out. Students from VKV Roing, Rayang Government Middle School, Mayu Model Government Middle School, Intaya Public School and the Divine Word School participated in the event.
