Boori Boot Yullo greetings

ITANAGAR, Feb 6: Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Governor BD Mishra have in separate messages greeted the people of the state on the occasion of Boori Boot Yullo.
In his message, Khandu joined the Nyishi community in welcoming the spring and thanking the almighty for a bounteous harvest.
“Boori Boot festival is our strongest link to our culture and therefore must be celebrated with traditional and ritualistic fervour,” he said.
The CM also reminded all of the importance of preserving and using the indigenous languages among community and family members.
“Celebration of such festivals is a good time to remind ourselves that if we do not teach, encourage and use our native languages, these will be lost forever in near future,” he said.
The governor in his message expressed hope that the festival would usher in good harvest.
“We build our festivities and celebrations and promote our age-old cultural traditions in the noble context of our agricultural progress. This approach, in large measures, promotes among our people both festivities and prosperity,” he said.
Urging the younger generation to “promote the integration of our carnivals with our sustenance elements,” the governor expressed hope that the festivity would invoke the spirit of Boori Boot to bless one and?all with happiness and good health. (CM’s PR Cell & Raj Bhavan)
