ZIRO, Feb 25: The nursing sorority of Ziro-Hapoli township in Lower Subansiri district took out a candlelight march on Tuesday to mark the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife.
The march was flagged off by ADC Nending Chatung in the presence of Medical Superintendent, Dr Kime Horming, matron, nurses, and nursing students from IGTAMSU.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has designated 2020 as the ‘Year of the Nurse and Midwife’, in honour of the 200th birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale.
It is an initiative of the WHO in the context of strengthening nursing and midwifery for achieving universal health coverage.
In East Siang HQ Pasighat, nurses from nursing schools and from Bakin Pertin General Hospital & Training Centre took out a candlelight march from the hospital to Gandhi Chowk to commemorate the 200th birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale. (DIPROs)
