CSIR-NEIST conducts outreach prog for students, entrepreneurs

NAHARLAGUN, Mar 2: CSIR-North East Institute of Science & Technology, Naharlagun, in collaboration with Bio-NEST, NIPER Guwahati Incubation Center organized a student outreach programme here on Monday.
The programme was aimed to inculcate scientific temper in students and find out product-driven entrepreneurs of the North East region.
About 75 students from the Dera Natung Government College, Itanagar and Dolphin Institute of Medical & Natural Science, Dehradun attended the day-long programme, along with teachers, besides entrepreneurs.
Capital SP Tumme Amo and APRB-RSETI Director Aben Dupak attended the programme and delivered motivational speeches, while Sc In-Charge CSIR-NEIST branch Itanagar, Dr Chandan Tamuly explained about the objective of the institute.
Dr Sonali Roy and Datta Maroti Pawde, both from NIPER Guwahati, attended the programme as resource persons.
Later, the students were taken on an exposure visit to Natural Product Chemistry, Plant Science & Biotechnology laboratory, mushroom incubation unit, CSIR-Centre for post harvesting processing & research.
A training programme on cultivation of mushroom and production of vermicompost was also conducted for the students by Sr TO Dr Budhen C Baruah.
