ITANAGAR, Mar 31: Pasighat West MLA Ninong Ering has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to “release the necessary funds to fight coronavirus (Covid-19) in Arunachal Pradesh and arrange for basic healthcare facilities and equipment immediately in all the districts of the state.”
In a letter to the prime minister, Ering, a former parliamentarian, on Tuesday said while Arunachal has not reported any Covid-19 positive cases so far and the state machinery is doing its best to fight the disease, the state does not have enough resources of its own and is entirely dependent on the Centre for assistance.
“If the coronavirus pandemic reaches our state, we are not adequately ready to fight with it, due to the limitation of health and medical resources. We don’t have a sufficient number of medical colleges to deal with the situation, and even basic necessities like ventilators and masks are not available,” he said.
Reminding the PM of his (Modi) “deep affection” for Arunachal, Ering said, “The people of Arunachal Pradesh are waiting for your immediate and urgent help.”
