ITANAGAR, Apr 5: So far 31 persons from the capital complex who attended the Tablighi Jamaat event in Delhi’s Nizamuddin, along with their families, have been identified and quarantined, Covid-19 nodal officer Koj Tara has informed.
He said the capital complex has been divided into Itanagar and Naharlagun zones, and “need-based activities,” such as creating awareness on the WHO-prescribed dos and don’ts and identifying quarantined houses and monitoring them, are being carried out by volunteers from schools and colleges.
Volunteers of the state unit of the Junior Red Cross Society (JRCS) are also carrying out such field activities in the capital complex after the state’s first Covid-19 positive patient was detected in Lohit district, state JRCS president Tarh Yaku told PTI on Sunday.
Eighteen volunteers have visited Polo Colony, Harekmal Colony, Rakap Colony, A Sector and D Sector in Naharlagun to trace those who attended the event in Nizamuddin. The team in the Itanagar zone, headed by Joram Mutthu, has been working similarly.
Some of the volunteers expressed concern that even after the imposition of restriction on movement in the colonies, “people were seen in groups, playing cards or gossiping, in total violation of the social distancing norm.”
The head of each family should ensure that social distancing is observed in their respective families, they said.
Meanwhile, the Manipuri Welfare Society of Arunachal Pradesh and Creative Printing Press of Naharlagun have donated Rs 25,000 each in the fight against Covid-19.
