Migrant workers escorted to Assam

ITANAGAR, May 4: Altogether 1841 migrant workers were escorted to Assam by the capital police on Monday.
Itanagar SDPO Kamdam Sikom informed that buses were arranged to drop them at Hollongi and Banderdewa. He said the workers were
from Sonitpur, Biswanath, Barpeta, Dhubri, Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, and others areas of Assam.
“The Assam authority sent buses to pick the workers from Banderdewa and Hollongi to take them to their respective homes,” the SDPO informed.
Earlier, in the morning, hundreds of migrant workers thronged the police station here, demanding that the state authority send them back home.
The police carried out registration of all the workers, using their addresses and contact numbers to ascertain their home locations.
