RGU commemorates pioneers on Teachers’ Day

RONO HILLS, Sep 6: The Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) commemorated the contributions of former professors Sristidar Dutta and Atul Chandra Talukdar on the occasion of Teachers’ Day, which was celebrated online here on Saturday.

The RGU recalled the contributions of the two pioneers of education in the state.

Prof Sristidar Dutta had led the History department, while Prof Atul Chandra Talukdar took charge of the department of Political Science in the year 1988.

RGU Vice Chancellor Prof Saket Kushwaha acknowledged the contribution of these pioneers of the university and stressed on the need for carrying on the good work done by them.

He announced that the RGU will every year, identify and celebrate such immeasurable efforts towards the development of the university.

Prof Sristidar Dutta narrated the tough journey they had to go through to create a successful venture from the idea of creating an educational hotspot in a state which was moving towards learning and knowledge.

Both Prof Dutta and Prof Talukdar also expressed pleasure over the university securing second position in the recently announced central university ranking by the UGC.

RGU Registrar Prof Tomo Riba, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Amitava Mitra, HoD Education Prof Kesang Degi and Assistant Professor, IDE, RGU Moyir Riba also participated in the programme.
