LONGDING, 21 Apr: A class 10 student, Hainu Wangsu (18), daughter of Ngamnai Wangsu of Longsom village under Longding district was killed in an accident at Longding town here on Wednesday when an SUV hit her as she and her friend were walking on the road.
The accident occurred between 12.30 to 1 pm. Hainu died on the spot. She was a student at Government Higher Secondary School, Khonsa.
The police have arrested the accused Anok Wangpan, a mechanic of the rural works department, Longding who was driving the SUV (Scorpio) bearing registration number AR-01J-0299. The vehicle belongs to an RWD JE.
Longding DySP B Tangjang has informed that an FIR vide Longding PS case no.14/21 US 279/304(A)/ 201 IPC has been registered and investigation is on.
Meanwhile, the body has been handed over to relatives after post mortem examination and proper inquest.
“Situation was tense over the death of the young school girl. However, both the police and administration have presently brought the situation under control,” the DySP added.
