PASIGHAT, 12 May: Poly-herbal ayurvedic formulation AYUSH-64 will be distributed free-of-cost to Covid patients, who are in home isolation, from the North Eastern Institute of Folk Medicine (NEIFM) here in East Siang district.

Patients’ family members or any caregiver can visit the distribution centre set up at gate no -2 of the institute between 9.30 AM and 4.30 PM with copies of the patient’s Covid-19 positive test report and Aadhaar card to get a free pack of the AYUSH-64, the director of the NEIFM said in a release.

“Replenishment, if and when required, will be provided free-of-cost, it said.

The Ministry of AYUSH on 7 May launched a nationwide campaign to distribute AYUSH-64 for the benefit of Covid-19 patients in home isolation.

“The poly-herbal formulation has been found useful in the treatment of asymptomatic, mild and moderate Covid-19 infection,” the release said.

“The ayurvedic formulation was initially developed by the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences for management of malaria. It has been repurposed as the ingredients showed notable antiviral, immune-modulator, and antipyretic properties,” the release said.
