DA implements govt guidelines, tightens issuing of facilitation passes

CHANGLANG, 16 May: The Changlang district administration on Sunday said that the protocols and guidelines issued by the state government vis-à-vis Covid appropriate behaviour are to be followed strictly.

The order issued by the administration is a copy of the guidelines issued by the state government on Saturday. It comes into effect from 5 am of 16 May until further orders.

“Any person/group of persons acting in violation of this order shall be deemed to have committed an offence punishable under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code and relevant provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005,” the order read.

Meanwhile, Changlang DC Dr Devansh Yadav has issued an order under Section 25 (2) (a) of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, stating that facilitation passes will henceforth be issued in exceptional cases and medical emergencies only.

“It will be issued by CO/EAC/SDO/ADC of the administrative area concerned only,” the order read.

The decision has been taken in view of the rising cases of Covid-19 in the areas bordering Assam. “There is a risk of increase in CO VIP infection by local people who visit Assam frequently,” it said.

Currently, facilitation passes for eight hours are being issued by the police at the check gates for interstate travellers and “there is a risk of same-day returnees spreading Covid infection in the local area after coming back,” the order read. (DIPRO)
