JORAM, 5 Jul: A ‘spring shed development programme on watershed basis’ was launched at Phu Joram village here in Lower Subansiri district on Monday by Home Minister Bamang Felix, in the presence of Education Minister Taba Tedir and NABARD General Manager Partho Saha.
The spring shed programme has been launched to rejuvenate the groundwater resources in the area.
The state’s natural resource management agency is helping the NABARD in implementing the programme, in cooperation with the villagers. As much as 1,000 hectares of land will be covered as part of this initiative.
Speaking on the occasion, the home minister urged the people of the area to actively take part in the initiative to conserve water.
“This is a very important project to conserve groundwater for the coming generation. People need to cooperate with each other and patiently work together,” said the home minister.
He expressed appreciation for the people of Joram for their “pro-development attitude.”
