ROING, 13 Jul: The Lower Dibang Valley District Health Society convened a review meeting on the National Tuberculosis Eradication Programme (NTEP) at the DC office here on Tuesday.
Interacting with people who recovered from tuberculosis, Deputy Commissioner KN Damo said that one should not fear the disease but should get diagnosed and proper treatment and care.
Expressing concern over the surging Covid-19 positive cases in the district, the DC asked the people not to spread wrong and negative information about the Covid-19 vaccine.
He also advised the panchayat leaders to discourage negative information surrounding the vaccine.
“Encourage others to wear mask, maintain social distancing and hand sanitization,” the DC said, and advised the people to take the vaccine as “it is the only solution to control the Covid-19 pandemic.”
ZPC Obang Ngupok assured to provide all help in creating awareness on the ‘jan andolan campaign’ to eliminate TB by 2025.
DTO Dr SJ Mitapo made a presentation on the activities and the objectives of the TB forum. Speaking on the activities under the NTEP in the district, he informed that the government has set a goal to eliminate TB by 2025 under the ‘jan andolan campaign’.
An ‘elected representative’s handbook on TB’ was released during the meeting.
DMO Dr R Tatan and DMEIO Dilip Deb also spoke. Among others, Roing ZPM Komji Linggi attended the meeting. (DIPRO)
