No project should be taken up without checking feasibility: MLA

CHANGALANG, 16 Jul: MLA Somlung Mosang suggested to various departments to not take up any project without checking the feasibility of such projects in all aspects.

Mosang said that many government assets are lying unused in inaccessible areas because of this very reason.

The MLA, who attended a district level monitoring committee meeting here on Friday along with his colleague Posum Khimhun, suggested to the project implementing departments to study the feasibility before implementing projects.

He also said that no advance payment should be made to any contractor, saying that “they tend to become complacent when paid in advance.”

The MLA requested the PRI members to work for the welfare of the society.

Khimhun also suggested to the PRI members to help the departments in implementing schemes successfully.

Changlang DC Dr Devansh Yadav said: “Henceforth, no land availability certificates will be issued by the administrative officers without the knowledge and signature of the executive engineer of the implementing agency as many a time the implementing agencies face issues with water and electricity connectivity.”

The DC suggested that, from now onwards, the departments should incorporate estimates for external electricity and water connections in their parent scheme/proposal.

Earlier, the heads of various project implementing departments made presentations on the status of their schemes and projects, and also the issues and reasons for the delay in completion of the projects and schemes.

The meeting was also                attended by the ADCs of Bordumsa, Miao and                Jairampur, the ZPC and ZPMs. (DIPRO)
