ITANAGAR, 19 Jul: The NH 415 Package C Land Affected Forum in a representation to the chief secretary (CS) appealed for immediate disbursement of compensation to all the genuine beneficiaries for the land acquired for the construction of NH 415 from Nirjuli to Banderdewa (Package C).
The forum claimed that, while many genuine beneficiaries who were entitled to compensation have been deprived of payment, the names of many beneficiaries have been found to be missing from the list of beneficiaries which was published by the ICR DC on 24 June this year.
The forum said that the final reassessment of the land acquired for the highway under Package C was completed way back in 2013-14 by the competent authorities, and accordingly, the MoRTH had approved it.
In its representation, the forum informed that the ICR DC had published the list of the beneficiaries on 20 May this year and the disbursement of compensation was scheduled from 28 May to 28 July.
The forum claimed that the compensations paid to some beneficiaries were less than what they were actually entitled to after the reassessment done by the authorities. It also alleged that the compensations are not being made as per the order of the names in the list.
When asked as to why compensations are not being paid to the genuine beneficiaries, the DC reportedly told them that he would carry out on-spot re-verification, and that payment would be made thereafter.
The forum appealed to the CS to look into the matter seriously, so that no genuine beneficiary is deprived of land compensation.
The forum also threatened to take legal recourse if its grievances are not addressed at the earliest.
