Itanagar MLA Techi Kaso and Highway Executive Engineer Nani Tath on Sunday said that work on Packages B and C of the Itanagar-Banderdewa four-lane project has not been started due to the failure of the ICR administration to hand over encumbrance-free land.
The compensation issue is back again to haunt the four-lane project. It seems as if the ICR administration has not been able to distribute the compensation for reasons best known to it. This delay in disbursement of compensation is delaying the effort to hand over encumbrance-free land to the contractors.
The agreement has already been signed by the PWD highway and the contractors. The whole situation is causing immense trouble to the citizens of the ICR, in particular those of Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa. The condition of the highway in between Naharlagun and Nirjuli is pathetic. Motorists are facing immense pain. The compensation issue should be resolved as soon as possible in order to clear the path for work to start. The four-lane project is the dream of every citizen of the ICR. It has been pending for long. Every effort should be put to clear any obstacles that are coming on the way to start work.
