NAMTOK, 17 Nov: The Namtokline football team defeated Ranchiline football team by 4-3 in penalty shootout to lift the MLA Running Cup Football Tournament trophy here on 15 November.
Garaline football team was awarded as the disciplined team, while Sujit Dungdug won the best player award. Best goalkeeper was Thokwang Nganpa and highest scorer was Kaliporeya.
The MLA Running Cup Football Tournament, organised under the aegis of the All Namtok Youth Association, was sponsored by local MLA cum Assembly Deputy Speaker Tesam Pongtey.
Speaking on the occasion, Changlang DSO (Sports) Noah Mongku urged the youth of Namtok circle to give more emphasis to studies and games and sports, and avoid narcotic substances, like kaani and drugs.
Changlang ZPM Menpa Haisa, while awarding the prizes to the winners, appreciated them for maintaining sportsmen spirit throughout the tournament. Haisa also praised the organizing committee and Tesam Pongtey. (DIPRO)
