ALSU seeks action against those holding officiating posts

ITANAGAR, 28 Apr: The Arunachal Law Students’ Union (ALSU) has submitted a representation to Chief Minister Pema Khandu, seeking action against officers holding posts on functional/officiating basis in various engineering departments in the state.

In its representation, the ALSU alleged that in works departments like the PWD, RWD, PHED, WRD, power, hydropower development, and urban development, “several engineers are holding power on a functional basis, thereby depriving the senior officers.”

“In every engineering department, the anomaly of holding high post by a junior officer is prevalent. This culture of appointing on officiating/functional deprives the deserving senior officers. Such anomalies need to be corrected at the earliest,” the ALSU stated.

The union appealed to the CM to look into the matter urgently. “There should be a fact-finding exercise, and

after that, appropriate order should be passed in favour of genuine and senior officers of the engineering departments who have been deprived of their right and position as per government employment rules,” the ALSU said.

The union stated that it would launch a democratic movement “in stages” against the departments concerned if the government fails to intervene promptly.
