ITANAGAR, 28 Apr: The state government has constituted a three-member independent fact-finding committee (FFC) to look into the issues raised by activist Sol Dodum in his representation to the chief minister.
The chief secretary has issued an order, naming Civil Aviation Secretary Swapnil Naik, DIGP Michi Paku and PWD Chief Engineer (SID&P) Tayu Gara as the FFC’s members.
Informing about this, PHE&WS Minister Wangki Lowang during a press briefing here on Thursday said that the committee has been asked to submit its report by 10 May.
“The committee will look into all aspects, including the allegation of corruption and lapses leading to the attack on Sol Dodum. Based on the report of the committee, we will take action,” said Lowang.
He requested Dodum to end his hunger strike. “We are seriously looking into all the issues raised by him and working to find solutions to some of them, especially the effort to provide clean water supply to Seppa township. We are ready to sit across the table with Sol Dodum and discuss all issues with him,” the minister said.
He said that water supply in Seppa township is being improved to meet the growing needs of the residents. “The main project for the augmentation of water supply is 80 percent complete and we assure to complete it as soon as possible. This project has been affected by the Covid lockdown. But we are committed to complete it at the earliest,” he said.
The minister also said that, while the department “appreciates the concern raised by Sol Dodum, everything takes time for completion. Give us some time to fulfil the issue raised.”
Regarding the allegation of corruption in the water supply project, he said that, if the charges are established, action will be initiated.
Meanwhile, Seppa PHED Division Executive Engineer Bharat Sonam, against whom Dodum has levelled corruption charges, has been granted 14 days’ earned leave. Rupa Circle (West Kameng) SE Joi Angu has been directed to take charge as the division’s EE.
