ITANAGAR, 29 Apr: Activist Sol Dodum ended his indefinite hunger strike on Friday, stating that he had to end his hunger strike on the advice of doctors.

However, he said that he would continue his peaceful protest.

Sol had to be rushed to the TRIHMS after his health reportedly deteriorated, causing neurology disorder. “I had to end my hunger strike as the doctors advised me to eat something to prevent my ulcer from getting worse. However, my protest will continue,” said Dodum.

Dodum has been demanding clean drinking water supply in Seppa township in

East Kameng district; restoration of a damaged road in Seppa; constituting of a special investigation team to launch a probe against the PHED executive engineer; and transfer of the EE and the East Kameng deputy commissioner.

Meanwhile, the Seppa division of the public health engineering & water supply department is reportedly on its toes, laying DI pipes to supply clean water from the Kochi Nallah intake point.

The work is being carried out under the supervision of a five-member committee headed by Deputy Commissioner Pravimal Abhisek Polumatla, town MLA Tapuk Taku, ZPC Doba Lamnio, the district planning officer, and members of the All Seppa Township Colonies.

It had been reported that the residents around the Kochi Nallah intake point were creating hurdles in laying the pipes. The district administration had to issue an order, stating that anyone creating inconvenience for the department would be prosecuted as per the established law.

The clean drinking water supply issue in Seppa township took centre stage after Dodum set off on a foot march from Seppa to Itanagar, covering more than 200 kilometres.
