4 Corps GOC calls on governor

ITANAGAR, 6 May: The Indian Army’s 4 Corps General Officer Commanding (GOC), Lt Gen Dinesh Singh Rana, called on Governor BD Mishra at the Raj Bhavan here on 6 May, and the two discussed national security, civil-military relationships, and recruitment of local youths in the Indian Army.

The governor commended the “alertness and élan” of the troops of the 4 Corps deployed on the line of actual control (LAC) in western Arunachal. He expressed confidence in the security preparedness of the 4 Corps troops and complimented the army’s resolve to maintain peace and tranquillity along the LAC.

Mishra suggested to the GOC to direct his formations and units to conduct pre-recruitment camps for the local youths, and advocated conducting more awareness and motivational camps for recruiting local youths in different parts of the state, while reiterating that “the state’s home-grown soldiers will be the best defenders of the safety and security of the state and the nation.”

The governor also emphasised on goodwill civic actions by the armed forces in the remote, rural and far-flung areas.

The GOC assured the governor of his best cooperation to continue the excellent civil-military relationship in the state. (Raj Bhavan)
