ITANAGAR, 6 May: Hearing three writ petitions filed by Mihin Laling, Tuk Yania and Koj Tapin against the state government and others in connection with land acquisition for construction of the Potin-Bopi road under the Trans-Arunachal Highway project, the Itanagar bench of the Gauhati High Court (HC) in its verdict asked the state authorities to “make payment of solatium with interest to the petitioners.”
While passing a common judgment on Case Number WP (C) 280/2020, linked with WP (C) 302/2020 and WP (C) 303/2020, filed by the petitioners claiming solatium, the HC pronounced on 25 April that “the state respondents have already paid compensation to the petitioners herein, under the Regulation 1947. In addition to the said compensation amount, the petitioners are entitled to solatium and interest.”
The HC in its order directed the respondents to “work out and make payment of solatium and interest to the petitioners, as provided in the RFCT and the LARR Act, 2013.”
