ITANAGAR, 6 May: The Arunachal Citizens Right, the state unit of the Human Rights & Law Network, the Nefa Indigenous Human Right Organisation and the Global Human Rights Organisation have expressed solidarity with activist Sol Dodum “for raising citizens’ issue, seeking provision of clean water in Seppa town, the district headquarters of East Kameng.”
In a press release, the organisations stated that “physical attack on Sol Dodum, including damaged of properties which surfaced in social media is condemnable from every section of the society,” and termed the act “curtailing the democratic movement and gross violation of human rights.”
Welcoming the government’s constituting a fact-finding committee to address the issues raised by Dodum, the organisations urged the state government to “bring amicable solution on the issue and justice should be delivered to Sol Dodum at the earliest.”
They also appealed to Dodum to reconsider his decision to walk to Delhi, saying that doing so would be putting his life at risk, and urged him to “find out alternative social movement against corruption within the state, if so required.”
