JAIRAMPUR, 9 May: A four-day ‘Arunachal Yuva Samanvay’, aimed at showcasing the potential of youths in the fields of performing arts, workshops, sports, etc, was inaugurated here in Changlang district by Sports Minister Mama Natung on Monday, in the presence of Nampong MLA Laisam Simai, the youth affairs director, the sports & youth affairs secretary, and others.
Twenty-five tribes of the state are participating in the event.
Addressing the inaugural function, Simai stressed on the importance of preserving the indigenous culture and tradition. “We the Arunachalis should be proud about our diversity of culture and create unity in diversity, considering pan-Arunachal mode of development as progressive development.”
Natung in this address appealed to the youths to “say no to drugs and say yes to sports,” and urged them to focus on sports rather than on drugs.
The minister and others later visited the stalls set up as part of the event. (DIPRO)
